Technology,
translated.
We're Res-Q IT — a Claremont-based team that makes technology calm, clear and accountable for the people who use it. Real local team, plain English, no call centres, no scripts. We'll tell you our story further down — first, here's why people stay with us.
Six reasons our customers stay — sometimes for over a decade
Most of our clients didn't find us through marketing. They found us through someone who'd been with us for years and said "you should talk to them." Here's what they were talking about.
Don't just take our word for it.
Every support request we close asks the customer to rate the experience. This figure updates in real time — pulled live from our SmileBack customer feedback system, not a marketing snapshot.
What it actually feels like to work with us
Plenty of IT companies promise "world-class service." We promise three specific things — and they're things you'll experience every time, not just in the sales conversation.
- Local team, real names, real continuity
- Your environment documented, ready to reference
- Same-day response on business issues
- No starting from scratch — Never Explain Twice
- No jargon-as-defence, no condescension
- Written summaries you can keep
- Time taken to explain trade-offs honestly
- Questions welcome, however basic
- Monthly visibility into the work we did
- Quarterly Business Technology Reviews
- A documented technology roadmap
- Honest advice — even when it isn't billable
Two things that haven't changed since 2009: the standard, and the postcode.
Perth-built IT support, run from Claremont since day one.
Res-Q IT was founded in Claremont in 2009. Our founder, Nick Shmakov, had moved to Perth from overseas in 2003 — and he took to Aussie life pretty quickly. The warmth, the directness, the willingness to have a real chat over a coffee. It felt like home.
A few years in, working across Perth's small business and home tech scene, Nick reckoned there was room to do this differently. Less she'll be right, mate — more like working a polyphonic piece: patient, structured so every line holds its own, and answerable for the result. You don't write the music for people who can't hear it. You write it for the one who can. So in 2009, with Raj Chaulagai, he started Res-Q IT to do exactly that.
In 2010 Raj moved on and Nick became the sole director. The mission hasn't shifted since:
That's what every interaction is shaped around. The way the phone gets answered, the way your environment is documented, the way we explain what we've done and plan what comes next. Sixteen years on, Nick is still a passionate people's person at heart — you'll find him running free tech and cyber safety seminars across Perth, because helping people feel comfortable with technology has never been just a job to him.
Awards we've earned — but not the reason we're here
We've been recognised over the years for innovation and influence in Perth's small business community. We're proud of these — but the work that matters is what happens between the awards. Every day, for the businesses and households we look after.
The people behind the work
We're a small, deliberately-sized team based in our Claremont office. Same names answering the phone year after year. Same standards.
Same people. Same principles. Every job.
Home and business technology, looked after properly
From a single laptop that won't behave at home, to running the whole IT stack of a growing Perth business — we cover the technology, you get on with what you do.
A real office, a real location
We're on Stirling Highway in Claremont, between Cottesloe and Nedlands. Stop by, drop off a computer, or call ahead and we'll come to you. We support customers across Perth and surrounding suburbs — most we visit ourselves when an on-site is needed.
- Suite 7, Level 1, 216 Stirling Highway, Claremont WA 6010
- (08) 6555 6500 — Perth landline, real local team
- [email protected] — replied to by humans
- Open Monday–Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm
- On-site visits across the Perth metro area
- Remote support for anywhere we can reach
Quietly, properly, and with a paper trail
A lot of what we do is invisible by design — issues caught before they cause damage, backups tested before they're needed, environments documented before something breaks. That quiet, careful work is the actual product.
- Local technicians, named on every job
- Documentation kept current, not in someone's head
- Monthly reports of what we actually did
- Quarterly Business Technology Reviews
- Honest advice over upsells, every time
- A real relationship, built over years

Real Perth businesses, real outcomes
Always very personable and certainly an expert in their field. Very punctual and always manages to solve our IT issues, no matter how difficult. I have recommended Res-Q IT to a number of other businesses over the years and my recommendations have acknowledged with calls of appreciation.
I run a small Tax Accounting Practice and became involved with Res-Q IT six years ago. Since then I have come to value and rely on their timely and expert advice to manage my practice's IT and communication requirements. Always reliable and creative in finding solutions.
Designed and installed a custom computer system for our office. They continue to monitor and maintain the system very efficiently and in the rare event of a problem, respond quickly to solve the issue. Their ongoing support is an integral part of our business development.
